This assessment maps five dimensions of nervous system health — HPA axis load, vagal tone, sympathetic drive, stress resilience, and somatic stress expression — against your nervous system constitution type to identify the specific regulatory pattern driving your stress symptoms. The same symptom (chronic stress or anxiety) has fundamentally different root causes and requires different interventions depending on whether it originates in HPA overload, sympathetic dominance, vagal tone deficiency, or somatic stress accumulation.
Generic stress management — meditation, exercise, better sleep hygiene — works for mild stress and regulated nervous systems. It is insufficient for dysregulated nervous systems because it addresses the cognitive experience of stress rather than the physiological state.
